Absconded themselves & fled from Iustice it will be requisite Lib. X. that a Warrant issue to the Sheriff of St Marys County or such as he shall Depute for the Execution thereof to apprehend the p. 77 said Good & Clark with power in the said Warrant to Com mand the Constable of the hundred where they are, to break open any Locks or Doors to Come at them & when taken, to have them before his Excellency the Govr at this port Whereupon a warrant being drawn to remand Mr Gerrard Sly into the Custody of the Sherriff of St Mary's County until he should further recognize himself in the Sum of One thous and Pounds Sterl together with two Sufficient Securitys each in the Sum of Five hundred pounds Sterl that the said Sly should appear at the next Provincial Court to be held God Willing the last Tuesday in August next to answer unto what should be Objected against him on his Majestys Behalf & in the mean time to be of Good abearance The said Warrant was signed by his Excellency the Govr the honble Collo Henry Iowles Chancellor Collo John Addison & Tho Brooke Esqr Also a warrant being drawn directing the Sheriff of St Marys County or such as he should appoint for the Execution thereof to apprehend Mr John Good Senr of St Marys County & to require the Constable of the Hundred if the said Cood should happen to Come into St Marys County to break open any Locks or Doors to come at him whom if taken the said Sheriff was to bring before his Excellency the Governor at the port of Annapolis with all Convenient speed, was Signed by his Excellency the Governor & the Mthnbers of his Majestys honourable Council Present The like warrant to apprehend Mr Philip Clark &ca Signed p. 78 as the other & so directed And also one other Warrant was issued Signed by his Excellency the Governor & the members of his Majestys honble Council Directed to the Sheriff of St Marys County Commanding him that all Excuses set apart without delay to bring the Body of Mr Robert Mason before his Exllcy the Govr at this Port Read a Letter from the honble William Blathwayte Esqr one of the Lords of the Council for Trade & foreign Planta tions & Secretary at War &ca dated at Whitehall the 5th of February 1697/8 wherein the said Esqr Blathwayte doth Signify to his Excellency that it is his Majestys pleasure to have one hundred Mocking Birds Sent for his Volary at Loo; & a duplicate of Such a number by another Ship as also all other Birds & beasts of Curiosity that may be found to be sent by the ships that Come for Europe & that especial Care be taken in preserving them in their passage
