On the 26th of May Instant The Treaty with the Dellawares being Compleated & we the psons Appointed by this Gov ernmt for Managemt thereof departing homeward In the In terim Came Connetectah King of the Susquehanaes together with two more of his great men & one Lewee Lewison a frenchman resident among them who gave an acctt tht the Shavanole King with his great men were on theire march but by reason of his great Age Could not Come so farr as they but would be with us that night he the sd Conetectah Desire ing the Presence of the Dellaware King and his great men to hear on the Morrow what he had to Offer to the English & Indians in Amity with us from Lowensah King of the Shaw kelawgues als Naked Indians and accordingly in the Evening Came Meaurroway King of the Shawanoles brought on hors- back by reason of his Age together with one of his great men and one Martine Shartee a ffrench man resident & married Among them but being late in the Evening and Understand ing they had much to Offer on that Subject we resolved to deferr the business till the next Morning being so requested by the Indians who were Somewhat discomposed by reason of theire Long hard travell Accordingly on the morrow wee the persons appointed haveing given Notice by Capt Hanse Steetman Interprter in Chiefe for the Northern Parts of this Province Orders to Acquaint the Indians that we would pro ceed and haveing given them what Methods we took for the Managemt thereof accordingly We tooke our Place where
