     Maryland ss:

       To all Christian people to whom these prsents shall come

     Sr Thomas Laurence Barrtt of the Port of Annapolis in Mary

     land his Matys Secretary of Maryland sendeth greeting Know

     ye that I the Sr Thomas Lawrence being bound to England

     and believing it Convenient to have Constituted some worthy

     & discreet pson in my Absence to Order and dispose of what

     Estate belongs to me in this Province have proposed &

     obtained the Consent of his Excy ffrancis Nicholson Esqr Capt

     genll & Governr of this Province to accept and undertake the

     ordering & disposeing my Estate in this Province dureing my

     Absence.

       Therefore I have and by these prsents do Constitute ordain

     & appoint the sd ffrancis Nicholson Esqr my true and Lawfull

     Attorney & reprsentative for me and in my name to enter

     into any Lott or Lotts for Lands that I hould in Annapolis

     and also take possession of any goods Chattells & Creditts

     to me Apperteining in Maryland and the said Land or Lotts

     of Land & prmisses goods & chattels for me & in my name

     to hold possess & enjoy or to bargain Sell Lease ifarm or

     Otherwise allien and Sell in ffee simple fee Tayle or Otherwise

     as to my said Attorney shall seem Expedient & to tht purpose

     to make or Cause to be made any Deed or Deeds grants

     ffeoffments or Conveyances for the sd Land or Lotts of Land

     & prmisses and the same to Signe Seale & deliver for me and

     in my name according to the form of the Law of this Province

     and if need require to deliver possession by Turf & Twigg

     pursuant to any such Deed or grant of Land. And finally

     to do all things Necessary or requisite in Law for the full &

     Cöpleat pfecting & finishing any such deed either of ffeoffmt

     or Lease of Lands And I do also hereby give and grant unto

     my Sd Attorney full Power and Authority to Ask Demand

     Levy require recover & receive all Debts dues or dutys

     belonging or apperteining to me in Maryland either in

     Tobbacco money goods or Chattells from any pson wtsoever

     by any meanes wtsoever and for default or neglect of paymt

     to sue Implead Imprison any person or psons wtsoever and
