           398 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1696/7-98.

          

           Lib. x. Ordered that the said Petitioners return to the said Ship

 

               & perform their duty for which they are Shipped & Engaged

          

                         March the 19th 1697/8

                     The Council again Sate & were

                                Present

             His Excellency Fras Nicholson Esqr Capt Genl

                         Collo Henry Iowles   Thomas Tench Esqr

               the honble) Collo Geo Robotham Colo Ino Addison

            Collo Charles Huchins             Iames Frisby Esqr

            p. 11    Came Mr William Alderne Deputy Collector of the port of

               William Stadt & made Report that he had no Accot to render

               nor list of Shipping to present since the last by him exhibitted

               & made Oath to

                 The said William Alderne took the late Oath administred

               to his Excellency relating to Trade as also Major Willm Dent

               Naval Officer of Potomack who at the same time made Oath

               to an Accot of Furrs & Skins &Ca

          

          

                     Monday March the 21st 1697/8

                 The Council again Sate & were present &Ca as on Saturday

               last

                 Mr John Hall of Baltimore County his petition for the

               remittance of a Fine of 1000 l Wt of Tobacco read and Granted

                 The petition of Philip Lines & John Evans as Security of

               Mr Cood Ordered to be referred to his Majestys Lawyers &

               receivers to pursue what former directions they have therein

                 It is humbly represented by the Members of his Majestys

               honble Council of this his Majestys province now present that

               whereas some of the Gentlemen that have had the honour to

               Serve in this Station are now dead vizt Collo Greenberry,

               Collo Brown & others that Live beyond the Bay are remote

               from this place that they Cannot possibly attend to discharge

               their duty upon all Emergencys happening for want whereof

               it hath already been Experienced Several Disappointments

               have occurred to the great hinderance of Business & his

               Majestys Immediate Service in this Govt therefore become

               humble Suitors to your Excellency that you would be

               favourably pleased to Signify this Deficiency to the right

               Honble Lords of the Council for Trade & Foreign plantations

            p. 12    whereby his Sacred Majesty may become Sensible thereof &

               Cause such Addition of Councillors to be made as to his

               Royal Wisdom shall seem meet
