     the SWff of St Maries County take care to provide two good

     Boats and hands to be ready at Mr Charles Ashcombs to sett

     them over Patuxent River tht live on that side.

       1 he following Summons was sent to the Honoble Coll John

            His EXnCY having considered this day in Councill

     about the Speedy calling of an Assembly, for severall weighty

     reasons importing his Majtes and the Countreys Service, and

     being desirous of the advice of more of his Majtes Honoble

     Councill to consult the same, does require your meeting him

     in Councill at Battell Town in Calvert County the 11th day of

     Ianry next ensuing the date hereof; being also Ordered to

     signify that for the better conveyance of severall persons over

     Patuxent River summoned likewise to be there. It is

     Ordered that the Sherriff of St Maries County provide a

     Couple of good Boats and hands to be ready at Mr Charles

     Ashcombs for that purpose, if yor Honor is intended to come

       A like summons issued for the Honoble Thoms Tench Esqr

     It being thought altogether inconvenient & almost impossible

     tht the Gentlemen of his Majtes honoble Councill living on the

     Eastern Shoare should attend the sd Councill, are therefore

     excused from being summoned; as also the Honoble Collo

     John Addison by reason he has the charge over the men at

     the Garrison and ffrontiers of Potomock.

       The following Summons pursuant to Ordr issued Vizt

       By his Exncy the Governr & Councill Decemr 23d 1697.

       Ordered that Geo: Plater Esqr his Majtes Receivr and Peter

     Jenings, Esqr his Majtes Collectr of Patuxent district be & per

     sonally appear before his EXnCY in Councill at Battell Town in

     Calvert County the 11th day of Ianry next ensuing the date

     hereof without faile; And tht the Esqr Plater give speedy

     and timely notice hereof to Esqr Lenings aforenamed.
