344 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1696/7-98.
Lib. H. D. By his EXnCY the Governr & Councill Decemr 23d 1697. Ordered that the Sherriff of St Maries County do upon sight hereof Sufflons Mr Richard Cloud, Mr Sam” Cooksey, Mr Willm Husbands, Mr Phillip Clarke, George Muschamp Esqr Mr Samll Watkins, Mr Willm Taylard, Mrs Mary Vans waringhen, Ino Shanks and Notley Maddox, that all excuses set apart they & every of them be & personally appear before his Exncy in Councill at Battell Town in Calvert County the 11th day of Ianuary next ensuing the date hereof; whereof they are in no wise to faile at their perill; and for the ready & best conveyance of the said Persons over Patuxcnt Rivcr to Battell Towne aforesd the sd Sherriff is hereby likewise Ordered to provide two good Substantial Boats and hands to lye ready at Mr Charles Ashcombes Plantation upon Patux ent River for the end & purpose aforesaid and to give the said persons summoned severally notice thereof; And lastly Mr Robt Mason high Sherriff of St Maryes County is likewise to make his own personal appearance, at the time & place aforesaid; if please God he should become capable to travell by that time; and that he bring his Books of accounts wth him pursuant to former Order:

A like Summons issued to the Shrff of Charles County to sumons Majr Willm Dent, and to the Shrff of Calvert County to sumons Mr James Cranford as also for their own Personal appearance the time and place aforesaid.
At a Councill held at the Port of Annapolis the 27th day of December 1697 in the ninth year of his Majtes Reign.
