D. about a month agoe, they spoke wth the Russell Galley on the Banks who told them that Collonll Gibson was arrived at Newfoundland with twelve Men of Warr and was setling the fishery again, that the Russell Galley in her Course had taken tenn prizes and sent them to Newfound land. The aforesaid News came by the Post.
to Philadelphia 21st of 7mr 1697. p. 149 Lords of the Sr Councili for Trade &ca By Ordr of their Exncys the Lords Justices we Letter to his send you herewithall the Proclamation for Pub claming the lishing the Peace lately concluded between his peace. MajtY and the French King; upon the receipt whereof you are required forthwith to cause the same to be solemly published, in the usual places within his MajtYs Ter ritoryes within your Government; And to give notice to all Privateers and Commanders of Ships throughout your said Government, to cease Hostilityes with the French Kings Subjects, according to the Tenour of the said Proclamation. By the Lords Justices A Proclama- A Proclamation For publishing the peace between his Majesty Peace & the French King. Tho: Cantuar F. Sommers
C. Sunderland, Dorset, Romney, Oxford Whereas a Peace hath been treated & concluded at his Majestys Royal Palace at Reswick, the tenth day of September last, between his Majesty and the French King; and the Ratifications thereof hath been since Exchanged, in Conformity thereunto we have thought fit hereby to command that the same be published throughout all his Majesties Dominions, And we do hereby declare that all Ships, Merchandizes, and other moveable goods whatsoever, wch have been or shall be taken from the Subjects of the French King after the two and twentieth of September last in the British and North Seas; After the 22th of this instant Octobr from the said British and North Seas as far as the Cape St Vincent; After the 19th of Novemr next ensuing beyond the said Cape St Vincent on this side the
