       Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1696/7-98. 271

   

     Ordered that George Plater Esqr his Majtes Receiver of Lib. H. D.

    Patuxent district do pay (out of the fines) unto Henry Denton

    the Petitioner the sum of nine pounds Sterll by him disbursed

    for hireing Clerks and towards furnishing papers &ca But as

    to the Amerciaments that the same remain as they are, untill

    his Majtes pleasure shall be known therein.

   

       Produced & read the following Petition Vizt

     To his Exncy ffrancis Nicholson Esqr Capt Genrll & Governr

    in Chief of his Majtes Province of Maryland.

   

          The Humble Petition of Clement Parke.

    Sheweth.

     That whereas he was imployed by Mr Henry Denton, the

    first of July last to seize upon a Sloop of one Matthew

    Clemison & a Boat of Mr Ashmans and another of one Samll

    Scott, in wch expedition I was Ten dayes Mr Denton promised

    me I should be paid this Court, and Ordered me to be here

    as an evidence, and I went to him, and he recommended me

    to Mr Plater, for payments and he told me I must first have

    yor Exncys Ordr wch I humbly begg.

                                  Sr I am

                         Your Exncys humble Servant.

                         to Command

                                  Clement Parke.

   

     Ordered that George Plater Esqr his Majtes Receiver of

    Patuxent district do answer and pay unto the Petitioner & all

    other Persons imployed in and about the seizing & prosse- P. 592

    cuting the within mentioned Boat & Sloop, what charges they

    shall legally bring in for the same; as also for the seizing 200

    Galls of Rum in the Possession of Mr Roger Newman. All

    wch charge is to be paid out of the Condemnation & forfeiture

    of all or any of the Goods imported in the said Boat & Sloop

    &Ca And if anything remains after such charge deducted; the

    same is to be appropriated to the use the Act of the Assembly

    directs.

     The Honoble Thomas Tench Esqr and Major Willm Dent

    persons appointed to go to his Exncy Sr Edmund Andros in

    Virginia upon the Indian affair humbly move for an Order

    upon the Treasurer to advance them some money to defray

    the expence of their Negotiation, whereupon it is Ordered

    by this Board that Mr Robert Mason Treasurer for the

    Western Shore do advance them the Sum of thirty pounds

    Sterli towards the defraying the said expence.

     The Honoble Thomas Brook Esqr upon his motion has leave

    to Retire home.
