should be cleared to go, without giving Sufficient security to Lib. H. D. go with the same to Newfoundland (for Supply of his Majtes Land and Sea forces there under the Comand of the Rtt Honoble Coll John Gibson) or to the Rtt Honoble Willm Stough ton Esqr Lieutent Governr and Comandr in Chiefe of his Majestes Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England in Order to be sent thither &ca And forasmuch as it hath been represented unto me in Councill from the Honord his Majtes Justices and the Grand Inquest for the body of this Province, how tht the sd Ordr proves very detrimentall to the Island Trade managed here, and for that (in the Neighbouring Colony of Virginia) there is no such prohibition, have for the same & other reasons requested that the sd Ordr may be dis annulled and sett aside. I do, by advice of his Majests honoble Council and upon the representation & request aforesd made as also upon the Satisfactiün of severall advices lately recd from New England how that that Province has (God be thanked) had a Plentifull harvest this year, and tht Newfound land has recd supplyes of Provission from New Yorke & those parts) think fitt to disannull & sett a side the sd Order so farr as the same restraines the clearing such Shipps and Vessells, and the same is hereby disannulied and sett a side accordingly. But for the Encouragement of all Masters and Owners of such Shipps & Vessells belonging to this Province or any other of his Majesties Governments as will undertake to purchase & load with Provisions here, giving security to go with the same to the end & purpose aforesd I do (for his Majtes service) hereby promise to pay all duties and Impositions payable upon Exportation of Beefe & Porke and give them my own dues and will also pay what fees are due to the Collectors & Navall Officers for entiring & clearing thereof who are hereby Ordered not to take any of those Impositions or fees but send the accounts of the same unto me, as by the sd former Order was directed. Lastly I do hereby Command the severall Sherriffs of the Province to publish this in all Churches Chap peils & other pub!ick places of meeting within their respective Counties and to give the Collectors and Navall Officers (where resident in their Balywick) immediate & speedy notice of the same; Given at the Town & Port of Annapolis under the Broad Sea! of the Province this 22nd day of October in the ninth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord William the third &Ca Annoq Dom 1697 ffr: Nicholson God save the King.
