This Comittee do think it necessary that there be one good Lib. H. D. and Substantial boat provided, to be kept towards the head of Potomock by some carefull person, as his shall think fitt, such a one as will carry a couple of horses over the River & may. be Rowed & Sayled, and do desire that his Exncy will please to give Orders for the same. That they think it to be necessary for his Majtes service & safety of this Countrey that his Exncy Sr Edmund Andros his Majtes Governr of Virginia be sent to and acquainted with the circumstances of the late Murther and other matters relating to the said Indian affairs; And forasmuch as the said late Murther hath been committed by Indians unknown to Vs. That his said Exncy be desired to cause inquiry to be made after the said Murtherers as it hath lately been done in this Government for the seizing & apprehending an Indian called Esqr Tom that fledd to this Province from the hands of Iustice in Virginia. And likewise that his said Exncy the Governr of Virginia be desired to give Orders to the Rangers upon the frontiers, for to settle themselves somewheare near the falls for the better intercourse to be had betwixt them & the Maryland Rangers for the mutuall defence of each Government. And whereas it is reported the Indians are possessed with ill notions, that for any misdemeanors committed here they are not to be punisht for the same in Virgina, therefore do desire that his Exncy the Governr of Virginia will be pleased to make them sensible to the Contrary. That his Exncy be likewise desired to prohibit the Inhabi tants under under his Government from selling to the said Indians any more powder or Ball, and tht the like shall be done here; they having carryed away wth them out of this Government & purchased since, a considerable quantity of both by their own saying. That by Information the sd Indians formerly have not made use off and purchased a thousand weight of powder a year. That his Exncy the Governr of Virginia be likewise desired p. 569 to appoint and send some Gentlemen to meet in Stafford County or elsewhere and call the Piscattoway Indians before them in Ordr to discourse them in presence of some persons to be sent out of Maryland as well to informe the Indians the Resolution of that Government not to protect them, as also for the Gentlemen of Maryland to make proposalls to them. This Committee do desire that his Exncy would be pleased to cause to be putt in Execution a former Order passed last assembly appointing severall persons to treat wth the Indians at the head of the head of the Bay and that some person may be appointed in the Roome of Mr Boothby who is sick; and
