        Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1696/7-98. 199

    

     Annapolis upon business properly relateing to there County, Lib. H. U.

     that they Either Send a letter of Credit with Such Express or

     ffurnish them out where withall to bear their Charges back

     wards and fforwards.

       Ordered that the Kings Lawyers Issue process agt Kenelm

     Cheseldyn Esq prsent Commissary for Neglect of his Office,

     and agt Mr John LLewellin for not Compleating and ffinishing

     the Records of that Office, during his Officiateing as Clerk

     there, and that they be proceeded against according to the

     Utmost Rigour of the Law It appearing by a list of the sd

     Commissary's Records this day produced in Councill that the

     sd LLewellin has only Recorded Seventeen Inventories, And

     as to the Neglect of the prsent Commissary, it appears by his

     taking out an Action agt the sd Lewellin in the Provll Court of

     this Province, for Causing him to Compleat his Records as

     aforesd but leting the sd Action ffall without a ffinall End

     made, whereby the Records of that time are Still left Imper

     fect to the very great prejudice and Damage of all persons

     Concern'd.

       Ordered that the Kings Lawyers prepare Writts to Issue to p. 541

     the Justices of the Respective County's to Certifye unto his

     Exncy what Testamentory proceedings have been Return'd

     into the Commissary's Office, Since the late happy Revolution

     and what are still left behind and that a full Return of all be

     made upon Oath by the Officers that have the Custody of the

     Same, and Certifyed accordingly unto his Exncy with all

     possible Speed.

       Mr Attorney Genll and Mr Robert Gouldsborough his Mats

     Counsell at Law being prsent. His Exncy is pleased to give

     Charge that they take Care, to see all his Mats Business

     depending in any of the Courts of this Province Speedily

     Compleated & Ended.

       Ordered that Mr Robert Mason high Sherriff of St Marries

     County and Mr Samll Watkins Navall Officer of Petuxant

     District do upon Sight hereof go to Mr Ccecilius Butler and

     make Demand of what Certificates, relating to discharge of

     Navigacon Bonds he has in his Custody it being Signifyed

     that he had ffound Severall in Mattapany House, The sd Mr

     Butler being hereby Ordered to deliver the Same unto Mr

     Samll Wattkins aforesd who is to give Receipt for what he

     Receives and make a list of the Same, and make Return

     thereof, to his Exncy at the Port of Annapolis with all Con

     venient Speed, and it is hereby further Ordered that the sd

     Sherriff Sumons the sd Mr Butler so that he be and appear

     before his Exncy in Councill at the next provll Court to make

     Oath to the said list of Certificates &ca
