    disappointed of his design; did afterwards upon the 14th day Lib. H. D.

    of December by an Ordr of Councill dismiss your Peticonr

    from being a Justice of the sd Court as likewise from pleading

    in any of the Courts of the sd Province and did issue out a

    Proclarnacön promissing any person a reward of twenty

    pounds Sterl. that would Swear yor petr was Endeavouring to

    Raise a Rebellion in St Maries County; from wch grievious

    oppression and unheard of Proceedings yor petr most humbly

    prays yor Exncy tht he may be protected in this his mats Colony

    of Virga under the quiet and peiceable Governmt of yor Exncy

    tht so yr Petitionr may be Enabled to make his Just Com

    plaint to his most sacred majesty.

     And as in Duty bound shall pray for yor Exncys long and

    Happy Governmt under his most Sacred Maty

    Coecill Co: to Ordr to Officiate as a Clergy man of the Church

    Sewell for     of England in this his Mats Province of Maryland,

    Minister  I do therefore in his mats name appoint the sd Mr

    Richd Sewell to Officiate as a Clergy man of the Church of

    England in the two parishes of Coecil County; called North

    & South Sassafrax parishes, by reason there are but few Tax

    ables in both Parishes & not Clergy men enough to Supply

    each of them; Given under my hand and Seal at the Port of

    Annapolis the 23d day of June in the ninth year of the Reign

    of our Soveraign Lord Wm the Third, by the Grace of God, of

    England, Scotland, ffrance, & Ireland King; Defender of the

    ifaith &ca Anoq Domini 1697

     To the Vestry men of North & South ffr: Nicholson.

    Mr Rich: Sewell & Mr & South Sassafrax parishes in Coecill County.

    Bordley 20 lb The other for paymt of the like sume to the Rd

    stri. each Mr Stephen Bordley appointed minister of St
