                  ExCy abt  The Belowe is Copy of Capt Mason 10 me in

                  Indians Answer of mine by yor Exncy's Order to him; yor

          

                  Exncy in yor last p the Ranger seems to dislike Sending by

                  the Rangers; I did not send them with that; but hearing the

                  Men tell tht Story; Told them I thought it the Captain's

                  Business to acquaint you there with if he thought any thing

                  of truth in it men here is very scarce to be had; Except on

                  Urgent Occasions; And indeed the Rangers hath the least to

                  doe, and may be the best spared; wishing yor Exncys Health I

                  Remain

                  Capt Geo: Yors of the 18th Instant have Received, on the

                  Masons Lre

                  to Coll Addison   inclosed 8th Instant The Indians did att the House of Wm

                         to Wigentous on Ocquio in the heart of our County

                  his Excy Kill as they thought a Woman & three Children;

                  they did mortaly wound them, the womans head was Clean

                  Head and Stab'd in the Side with a great Knife, but thank

                  God, all of them are alive and like to Recover; on the 19th I

                  did light of 8: Indians that was accused for the murther &

                  Ordering my men to seize them all to a Popolr Immediately

                  to Execute them all; & telling them I knew them to be

                  murder one Esqr Thom: & Choptico Robin desired that they

                  might discourse me at which I did; they told me if I

                  would not hang them they would discover the Murderrs; Soe I

                  admitted them their Pardon; so immediately they told me it

                  was three of them; & two of them was there and the other

                  was Gon to the New fort, soe Imediately seizes the Two and

                  sent to Prison; & I have sent to Emperr for the other Indian;

                  whom I know: but these I know not but both Neighbouring

                  Indians.
