Ordered that George Plater Esq his mats Receiver and Lib. H. D. Attorney Genll do (upon Sight hereof) provide Some one Suffi cient person to Reside here in Town who will be answerable for the Actions and Business relating to both places (he hav ing an Annuall Salary from his Maty for the One and ffees and perquisites for the other) or that he Come and actually Reside here in Town with his ffamily himself with out which his Mats business will be much retarded and impeded.

Somerset County in the Province of Maryland by ing severall the Rt honrble ffrancis Nicholson Esq: Capt Genll Encroachmts made by Wm &Ca touching some encroachments made within Clarke presi- the Bounds of Somerset County aforestt by some dent of the Horekill prsons Inhabitants of the Horekill. for Answer within the he humbly declareth. Bounds of Maryld That being Surveyr of Somerset County about nine years since, he laid out or Surveyed Severall Tracts of Land for Sundry persons in the sd County and dur ing the time he was there Surveying, one Wm Clark presidt of the horekill Court, Came where I was Executing my Office in a Neck call'd ceadr Neck on the South Side of Rehoboth Bay (the place Ordered by the Ld Baltemore and Councill to be the northern Bounds of our County) about the years 1672: or 73: the Sd Clark made noe Objection against Wt I was about but after some discourse departed, But soon after, about the time of the late Revolution of Governmt within the Pro vince of Maryland the sd Clark with some others made Sale of most of such lands lying within the Bounds of our County; and Surveyed & Cert. Return'd by me in Maryland Right and hath recd: (as can be Evidently made appear) a Consider able quantity of money and such Comodities as the Countrey Affords and particularly sold the sd Ceader Neck which he once pttended to be a manner of Wm Penns and hath pro cured Pattents, in the Severall and respective prsons Names to p. 108 whom he has made such Sale, in Pensilvania, many whereof yet are seated in the same Right, and altho: Complaints were made to the late Governr Copley yet by the Short time of his Continuance in the Governmt there was no Redress. Since his Exncys Arrivall, We have Us'd all Modest Endeavours to Regain the Ancient Meets and Bounds of our County alltho: mett with severall Strong opposicon most Chiefly by the Instigation of the sd Wm Clarke and one John Hill Sherriff, as Severall of the Inhabitants hath inform'd: and not long since my Shrivalry of Somerset being Obliged to Attach the Bodyes of Some p Virtue of my Authority have forced to Raise the Inhabitants to take them finding Severall in Arms, who made
