Came Matthew Clemison of the Frovince of Pensilvania before his Exncy the Governr and Sr Thomas Laurence Baront Secryr and preferr'd a Certain Petition wherein he sets forth that having a Sloop and Goods Seiz'd for Trading Contrary to Severall Laws and Orders of this Governmt notwithstand ing two Genll Permitts of Trade Granted him by Majr Thomp son Navll Officer of Ccecill County under his hand and Seal, being here produced and Read, who finding that through the mistake negligence or fforgetfulness of the sd Offleer he is run into a Primunire humbly prays an Appraismt may be made of the sd Sloop (being a hired sloop) and that upon giving Bond for the appraised Value, and to stand Tryall the Same may be restored to him, in Ordr that he may deliver it up to the Ownr Ordered thereupon that the Peticonr giving Bond with good Security to Answer to his Maty &Ca the Appraised Vallue as well of the sd Sloop as Goods in her Seized and if the same upon Tryall shall be legally Condemn'd that then the Same be deliver'd him accordingly, Provided he pass another Bond for answering the Penalty of the Law for his Wool and old Iron taken on Board; (if upon Tryall) Judgmt shall be given against him thereon, hereby appointing & Empowering Mr Richd Beard, Mr Orlando Greenslade and Thomas ffreeborn to Appraise the same, they having ffirst taken an Oath for that purpose before Capt Richd Hill one of his Mats Justices p. 538 for the Prov” Court. And that they Return an Accot of their proceedings therein unto his Exncy the Governr under their hands and seals distinctly with all possible speed. Ordered that Majr John Thompson Navll Officer of Coecill County be (upon sight hereof) dismist from further Acting in that Station, Complaints being made of Severall Irregularities by him committed in the way of his Office by Granting forth illegall permitts, to the great damage and lnjury of Severall persons therein Concern'd; and that the honrble James ffrisby Esq recommend some other fit person to be Constituted Navall Officer of that District in his Stead. Ordered that George Plater Esq his Mats Attorney Genll of this Province issue process against the sd Majr Thompson so that he may be and appear before his Mats Justices of the next provll Court to Answer the Severall Irregularities by him Committed in the Execution of his Navall Officers place. Ordered that Majr Thompson be not inserted in the provll Commission lately Order'd to be Issu'd but that a blanck be left and that the honrble James ffrisby Esq be sent to, to Rec omend some fit and Capable person to be inserted in his Stead.
