Lib. H. D. Sr Tho: Lau- His Honr Sr Thomas Laurence Representing to rence s compit agt Mr Tay- the Board how that the sa Taylard does detain in lard his Custody a Certain Book of ffees belonging to
the Secryrs Office which he Could not get from him to the great prejudice of himself and others. Ordered that Search be made whether the sd Taylard did not formerly make Oath in Councill of his having delivered up all publick Records writings and papers &ca which accord ingly being found he is sent for and appears who being Examined in the prmises and having the Oath (formerly by him taken) read unto him does Confess he had such a Book of ffees by him, but that it Came to his hands Since his taking that Oath.
Mr Wm Tay- Ordered that he be Committed by a Warrant from lard by Ordr comitted to this Board unto the Custody of the Sherriff of Ann prison Arrundell County and prosecuted upon the same for Perjury, pursuant thereto the following Warrt issued.
By his Exncy the Governt & Councill May 27th 1697. Whereas Wm Taylard late Clerk of the provll Court of the Province did on the 13th of Oct. 1694: take an Oath before this Board that he had deliver'd up all publick Records writ ings and Papers (wherewith he had been Concern'd) in the sd Office and fforasmuch as it Since appears to the Contrary by the Complaint of the Honrble Sm Thomas Laurence Baront Secryr in that he still keeps in his Custody a book of ffees to the sd Office belonging. Ordered therefore that the Sherriff of Ann Arrundell County Do upon Sight hereof take the sd Wm Taylard into Custody and him Safe keep untill he shall thence be deliver'd by due Course of Law for which this shall be yor Sufficient Warrant.
