the Province will reasonably Admitt. Wee are Sufficiently
assured of yor Excys good Intention & inclination to assert the
Interest of this province and to doe us Iustice & are in an
Especiall manner pleased to find in yor Excy that apertnes of
Mind that Cleaness and freedome from prejudice and pre-
possesions of bad opinions against any Man and desire you
will belive us all honest Men lett us all indefferently ptake
the advantages of yor good Govermt and applye his Majtys
Grace & favour in Common matters indifferently to us all
till any Mans actions bespeakes him otherwise. Wee Cannot
omitt to telling yor Excy that Wee take it as an infallable
argumt of yor owne sincerity & Candour that no Sinister
pswasions have Disscoraged yor Excy from making Vse of and
Treating wth the prsent Assembly wch at your comeing you
found all ready Elected we hope you will not find your Self
mistaken in yor Measures desireing this much that as wee are
men & lyable to Mistakes & Errors that if any thing pceeds
from us wch at first is not pleasing to yor Excy that it may
not be haestily resented till wee be better vnderstood & we
assure yor Excy that we will Ioyne wth a Chearfulness more
then has lately possessed us to dispatch the besiness wch occas-
sions our metting if yor Excys Iudgmt and ours agree in meas-
ureing the Capacity of the province

Ordrd that Coll Iohn Thompson & Capt Philip Hoskins goe
and Informe his Excye that there are some members now come
wch did not take the oaths afsd: Subscribed the Test & asso-
ciation yesterday & pray his Excys Ordr therein who returne &
say they have deliverd their Message.
The Honble Thomas Tench Esqr and Coll Ion Courtes Two
of his Majtys Honble Councill and Mr Wm Bladen Clk of his
Majty Councill Enter the house and informe Mr Speaker that
his Excy has been pleased to send them to administer the
afsd oathes to the afsd psons.
Whereupon Mr Iames Saunders Majr Tho. Ennalls Mr
Thomas Hicks Mr Walter Campbell & Mr Iacob Loockerman
Tooke the oathes afsd and Subscribed the Test & the associ-
ation wch being done the Gent: of his Majtyes Honble Councill
and Mr Wm Bladen take leave & Depart.
Ordrd that Capt Tho: Waughop Majr Ion Lowe Mr Micha
Miller Capt Richd. Hill Mr Iames Crauford Majr Iames Smal-
wood Mr Tho. Staley Coll: Edwd Lloyd Mr Iacob Loocker-
man Mr William Harris and Coll: Ninian Beale Carry the afsd
answer to Excys speech to his Excy and Councill
