Councills Result thereon; and upon Reading that parte where
his Ex^cy S^r Edmond Andross says he would answer the Gov^rs
Letter hereafter, His Ex^cy is pleased to declare before the
fface of the Whole Assembly, that he never received any
answer from S^r Edmond Andross to that Matter.
All the said papers were ordered to be, accordingly deliv-
ered to the Clke of the house.
Afterwards his Ex^cy was pleased to tell them that as to the
message sent on Saturday ffrom the house (if they do but con-
sult their former Journall) they will finde no deviation from
their former Rules, tho' the manner might some thing differ,
which his Ex^cy tooke to be the speediest and Easyest way of
Dispatching business and Creating a Right Understanding of
Matters however had Ordered An Answer to be returned
thereto that Evening of his being well satisfied with the
houses Resolve therein, but that the house was risen before
the answer gott to them.

M^r Speaker and the Rest of the Members repaire to the
house to consult about the Indian Affaire.—Came Doctor
Jacob Lookerman & Walter Campbell who say they were sent
from the house to desire that M^r ffrancis Genkins, M^r John
Bosman M^r Sam^l Collins, and M^r Walter Lane Delegates
Returned by Indenture to serve for Somersett County, might
be sworne, Whereupon the hon^ble S^r Thomas Laurence Barr^t
Colonel Robotham & Esq^r Brooks did administer unto the sd
Gentⁿ the Oaths appointed by Act of parliament to be taken
insteade of the Oaths of Allegiance & Supremacy And the
said Gentⁿ severally subscribed the Test.

March the 15^th 1697/8.
