we presume, lodged with you, belonging to the Continent: if
the Galley can take them in, we desire they may also be sent,
or so many as the Captain can take on Board. If there should
be any Provisions purchased by the Agent, send them also.

Sir.
We expected, agreeable to our former Orders that you
would have been down here before this Time. We now desire
that you will immediately proceed down with your Galley, no
Excuse will be admitted We are &ca

In Council Annapolis 29th Apl 1778

Sir.
In Consequence of what you wrote me some Time ago, I
informed the Council that you had engaged 50 Hhds of Tobacco
and we depended upon you for that Quantity. The Price of
Tobacco has taken a greater Rise than was expected, and we
shall make you a further Allowance. The Council wants 10
Hhds more to compleat a Load for a Vessel they are sending
to Sea and will be obliged to you to furnish the Quantity, so
as to make, in the Whole 60 Hhds The Tobacco we doubt not
but you will get upon the best Terms, and the Money shall be
paid to your Order. The Tobacco you will be pleased to

deliver to Captn Walker, whose Galley we have ordered to
take it in, and, we trust, Dispatch will be given her. Can you
furnish about 40 Hhds more at the Price now going? Send over
the Weights of the Tobacco, that I may be enabled to settle
with the State I am &ca E. L.
