Colo Baker Johnson agrees with the Board, that for fifty Bushels
of Country made Salt (for which he has an Order on Mr
Crysall) he will deliver to Mr Crysall in Annapolis the Flour
Produced from one hundred Bushels of good Wheat well and
carefully ground up and packt in Barrels the Public
paying the actual Cost of the Barrels on Affidavit of the
Miller, to be sent with the Flour of the Quantity sent being
the ful and real produce of the one hundred Bushels of Wheat
Ordered that Mr Crysall deliver to Colo Baker Johnson
Fifty Bushels of Country made Salt
Commission of a Letter of Marque and Reprisal issued to
John Harrison Commander of the Sloop Genl Lincoln 90 Tons
Burthen navigated by 30 Men mounting 10 Carriage Guns 10

In Council Annapolis 18th Octr 1779
Sir
We are called on for our Assistance to procure Flour for the
Use of the Army; we are so desirous of doing it that we would
fall on every Method which may have a Chance of inducing
People to get out and part from their Wheat for this essential
Service. Amongst other Means, we have thought it probable
that a good deal of Wheat might be collected by small Quanti-
ties at the Mills in Exchange for Powder, at the rate of a
Bushel of Wheat for a Pound of Powder. We therefore re-
quest that you would take to your Mill a Barrel or two, lodge
at Alexr Ogles Mill and at Roger Johnson's Mills respectively,
about the same Quantity and with Mr Joseph Cromwell at
Frederick Town about the same Quantity and at any other
convenient Mills, where good Care can be depended on, about
the same Quantities to be exchanged on the Terms mentioned
above, supplying Powder in reasonable Quantities, on the
Expenditure of what was before delivered, the Mills to grind
up the Flour, separating only the Bran and Shorts and pack-
