Richard Butler and Nicholas Tice to Act in Frederick County
according to the Act of Assembly in such Case lately made and

Provided

Wednesday 15 September 1779

Present as on Yesty Edward Lloyd Esq. Appeared
Commission issued to Hezekiah South appointed Surveyor
of Cecil County in the room of Thomas Maffit resigned
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Capt
George Keeports Two thousand Pounds on Account
That the said Treasurer pay to Capt Robert Owen seventy
four Pounds, two shillings & six Pence p Acct passed by the
Aud Genl
Ordered that the Commissary of Issues deliver to Serf
Lamb of the 1 Regt 4 days Provisions for Six Men of said
Regimt
That the Commissary of Stores deliver to Serjeant Lamb
2 pr Shoes to be charged to the first Regiment.

[Council to S. Chester.]

In Council Annapolis 15th Septr 1779
Sir
You are hereby impowered and directed to inlist into the
Service of this State, for three Years or during the War, any
Number not exceeding fourteen effective Freemen, to serve
as Matrosses according to the late Act of Assembly entitled
"An Act relating to the Officers and Soldiers of this State
in the American Army and other Purposes therein mentioned
As the Encouragement offered by the General Assembly
is so liberal and the Number wanted is so small, we hope you
may have, in a Manner, your Choice of Men for this Service;
by all Means prefer Country born, nor take any others, unless
they have some Property or Connection which may attach
them to the Place; before you pay the Bounty, which is two
hundred and forty Dollars, to any Man, have him well
examined to see that he is sound and at the Time of the
Payment of the Bounty, let him, before a Magistrate, sign his
Inlistment, expressing whether it is for three years or during
the War and also a Receipt for the Bounty. The Inlistments
and Receipts, certified by the Magistrates before whom they
are signed, transmit to us.
You are to apply to Capt Keeports from Time to Time for the
Bounty Money as it may be wanted.
