of the Council of Maryland, 1778-1779. 527

[Council to H. Young.]

In Council Annapolis 15th Septr 1779
Sir
We cannot find that we have any nine Pounders besides the
five which are not mounted either here or at Balto and we can
not with any Propriety, part from any Guns that are mounted
on the Forts. This Reason has induced us not to part from
the small Guns at Balto or this Place, on several Applications
which have deen made for them. If from our not being able
to furnish you with a sixth nine Pounder, the odd one should
be useless, you may have four only, if they will best suit you.
Capt Keeports is left at Liberty to exchange a Part of his
ready filled nine Pound Cartridges, with you for the Fresh
Powder. We do not know that we have any nine Pound
spare Carriages; if on Enquiry, there are such, Mr Keeports
will deliver them to you
We are &ca
