of the Council of Maryland, 1778-1779. 409

Robert Miles being brought before this Board in Custody
of the Sheriff of Ann Arundel County and the Deposition of
Henry Bateman Senr taken in his Presence and the said
Robert Miles examined touching the Matter therein contained.
This Board do adjudge that they have good Grounds to believe
that the going at Large of the said Robert Miles may be
dangerous to this State, the State of Virginia being actually
invaded by the Enemy. Wherefore the said Robert Miles
is hereby committed to the Public Goal in the City of
Annapolis to be there Kept in the Custody of the Sheriff of
Ann Arundel County there to remain until he shall be dis-
charged therefrom according to Law.
