Saturday 22d May 1779

Present as on Yesterday
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to His Excel-
lency Thomas Johnson Esq. Four hundred and Sixteen Pounds,
thirteen shillings and four Pence for two months allowance as
Governor due the 9 Instant
That the said Treasurer pay to Lieut Edward Gale Sixty
Eight Pounds, five shillings due himself & Sundries p Acct
passed by the Depy Aud.
That the Commissary of Stores deliver to Serjt Lamb 3 pr
Shoes for Ist Regt
That the said Commissary of Stores deliver to Francis Gain
a 9 mo Soldier in 6 Regt & reinlisted in the 5th Regt the
amt of Four Pounds, fourteen shillings in Cloathing and one
Blanket due him by an Act of Assembly to procure Troops
for the American Army
Commission issued to Francis Cromwell appointed Capt in
the room of Joseph McCubbin resigned, Caleb Hazle 1 Lieut,
Charles Robeson 2d Lieut in the Severn Battalion of Militia in
Ann Arundel County

In Council Annapolis 22d May 1779
Sir.
We are apprehensive a good Deal of the Pork sent over by
the General Smallwood, will be lost; great Care & Manage-
ment will be necessary to preserve it; we request you will
have what is left with you overhauled & put in the best Order
possible, It is uncertain when we send for it, and if we could
immediately, we should not be able, whilst Things are in their
present Circumstances, to get People here to do the necessary
Work to it

By a Letter received from Mr G. Morris, he agrees that
your Purchase before your Appointment under this State
should be reckoned in Part of the 10000 Barrls He intimates
that the Settlement for that Flour &ca will be left to us. We
hourly expect that we shall receive Money to adjust your
