[Council to S. Gilpin.]
In Council Annapolis 14th May 1779
Sir.
In Consequence of your Letter of the 4th and others similar
to it, we wrote pressingly for a further Supply by the last Post
and, by this, we are informed that all we want would be
delivered to our Delegates this week; it is now probably on its
Way and you shall be furnished to discharge your Contracts
with Honor. Be pleased to let Mr Veazey know that if he
wants more Money he also will be supplied. We are sorry
for Mr May & Colo Thompson's Disagreement about Mr
Waters's Wheat; the Law has left the Decision to the Judg-
ment of others and we cannot therefore give any Order
about it.

[Council to T. May.]
In Council Annapolis 14th May 1779
Sir.
We received your Application to Day for an Order to Colo
Thompson to deliver you the Wheat purchased of Mr Waters.
We are sorry that there should be any Degree of Opposition
between the Persons employed by the Public to effect the same
End, but Law has not given us the Power of interfering &
preventing its Operation: whether the Wheat was seizable or
properly seized, is left to the Judgment of the Justices,
whose Opinion is and ought to be altogether independent of
ours. Those Reasons, we are sure, considered, will evince to
you the Propriety of our not complying with your Request.
We are &ca
Thomas May
