and Money for the Use of the British Prisoners at Fort Fred-
erick and Winchester, The Cargo to be received into some of
the Bay Craft and sent to Alexandria or George Town, under
the Conduct and Escort of our own People, and from thence
to the Places of its Destination. There being some Ground
to suspect that the Vessel might be designed for Baltimore
for other than the ostensible Purpose: if you should fall in with
any such Vessel having a Passport or Permission from General
Washington; you are to conduct her to Hampton Road and
give immediate Notice to the Government of Virginia, that the
Permission may have all and only the Effect intended in the
granting of it. Your also sending a Copy of this which is
given you in Consequence of the General's Letter, will account
for your Conduct.

Present as on yesterday
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Ezekiel
Forman Esqr Two Pounds, ten shillings for the Use of Doct.
John Scott and also the further sum of seven hundred and
seven Pounds, fifteen Shillings and Six Pence due himself per
Accounts passed by the Aud. Gen
That the said Treasurer pay to Lieut. Gale, Four Pounds ten
shillings and Eight Pence per Acct passed by the Depy Audr
That the said Treasurer pay to his Excellency Thomas John-
son Esqr Eight hundred and thirty three Pounds six shillings
and Eight Pence due him for 4 months Salary to the 9th Instant.
That the said Treasurer pay to John Green Twenty nine
Pounds Eight Shillings and three Pence and also the further
Sum of One hundred and sixty five Pounds, sixteen Shillings
and six Pence due him p Acct passed by the D. Aud.
That the said Treasurer pay to Colo Christo Birkhead the
following Sums for the Use of the Persons to whose names
they are annexed John Turner Nine Pounds, Samuel Barrow
seven Pounds ten shillings William Berry Nine Pounds, Jona-
than Gibson Nine Pounds, Joseph Bunton Nine Pounds, Richard
Harwood twelve Shillings and Eight Pence and William Rose,
Twelve shillings and Eight Pence due them per Accts passed
by the Depy Audr
Mr William Goldsbury from the House of Delegates brings
in and Delivers to his Excellency a Resolve of the General
Assembly respecting the Gallies.
