Baker, Two thousand Pounds on Acct to be expended in the
Purchase of Pork &ca for the use of this State
That the western shore Treasurer pay to Robert Reith,
Fourteen Pounds, eleven shillings and Eight pence due him
the 23d Inst, for one Month Salary as Messenger to the Gov-
ernor & Council
Ordered that William Goldsmith deliver to John Davidson
5 sides of Sole Leather and one Side of Upper Ditto

Tuesday 26th January 1779

Present as on yesterday
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Stephen
Rawlings Forty five Pounds, Fifteen shillings Amt of Acct
passed by the Aud. Genl
That the said Treasurer pay to Thomas Beall Capt, of a
Maryland Comp7 of Riflemen in the Continental Service, One
hundred and fifty Pounds the Allowance made by the General
Assembly.
Commission issued to Joshua Beall, Christo Lowndes, Wm
Lock Weems David Craufurd, John Harrison, Richard Hen-
derson, Thomas Gantt Junr Luke Marbury Thomas Clagett,
Trueman Skinner, Alexander Howard Magruder, Osborn
Sprigg Fielder Bowie, George Lee, Benjamin Hall, son Fras
Thomas Williams, Thomas Magill, Thomas Boyde, William
Lyles, William Berry, James Mullikin, James Beck, Henry
Rozer, Frank Leeke, Samuel Hepburn, John Brown, Abra-
ham Boyde, and John Smith Brooks, appointed Justices of the
Peace for Prince Georges County and also to Joshua Beall,
Christo Lowndes, David Craufurd, Thomas Clagett, Richard
Henderson, Alexander Howard Magruder, and Frank Leeke
appointed Justices of the Orphans Court for Prince Georges
County

In Council Annapolis 26th Jany 1779
Sir
Mr Griest represents to us that very soon after his Appoint-
ment as Quarter Master, which was about the last of August
1777, he purchased a considerable Quantity of Corn for the
Use of this State, that a Part of it remaining on Hand unex-
pended, he got Mr Welsh to retail it out in small Quantities
to the People who were in great Want of it; that some Pro-
ceeding has been carried on against him and Mr Welsh as
Engrossers of this Corn and that in Consequence of it the
Corn was delivered to you by Order of the Justices and part
