In Council Annapolis 8th Jany 1779
Sir.
We this Morning received yours of the 3d Inst, and inclose
you an Order on your Treasurer for £4000. We are glad to
hear that you have been so successful in your Purchase. What
you have agreed for, if the 30000 should come in as you ex-
pect, we take chearfully, but as the Quantity we have will be
fully sufficient, we would not have you extend your Purchase
farther. The Difficulty of getting Barrels is so great with us, that
we can give you no Assistance in that Article. We shall send
you a further Quantity of Salt, as soon as we can, but if it
should not reach you by the Time you want it, supply yourself
by all Means if you can
We are &ca
Colo Wm. Richardson.
