In Council Annapolis Augt 17th 1778.
Sir.
If William Goldby is discharged, it will be proper the State
should have the Money he has received as a Substitute and
likewise the Bounties, if they have been paid him. We re-
quest you will make Enquiry & inform us, by his Return, of
these Particulars. We are &ca

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer Pay to Cap. Ben-
nett Matthews forty Pounds on Account.
Commission of Letter of Marque and Reprisal to Robert
Caulfield Master of the Brig Burling, mounting fourteen Car-
riage Guns four Swivels and eight small Arms Navigated by
fifty men 70 Tons burthen belonging to John Sterret Daniel
Bowley and others of Baltimore.
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer Pay to James
Hindman two hundred and fourteen Pounds, twelve shillings
and one Penny and also the further Sum of Twenty Pounds
per Accts passed by the Prinl Cl to the A Gl

Sir
Your last Favor is now before us, & we shall pay all due
Attention to the Contents. The consideration of your last
relative to the Vessel sold by Wm Harrison is before the ma-
rine Committee, but it does not appear that Mr Bingham
purchased her for the Continent, perhaps for his own private
use. The Appearance of a Fleet off Rhode Island drew the
Attention of Count D Estaing from that Object, just at the
Time an Attack was preparing to be made this will conse-
quently retard the Operations there for some Time. I am
with due Respect
