[Council to Delegates in Congress.]

In Council Annapolis 23d July 1778.
Gent
We have furnished Mr Randall with £1000 to lay out in
Liquors &ca for the Maryland Officers and should have sup-
plied him with considerably more but that we think a very
large sum may not be safe whilst the Army is continually
moving; we therefore request you'll obtain from the Congress
on Acct of this State, as far as £4000 and pay it to him or his

274

Orders occasionally. We have supplied him with what
Cloathing we could, but our Troops will still want about 1000
