Cattle or other Provisions, by the Purchasers appointed under
the Laws of this State. The Continental Commissary has
appointed Agents who, we hope will be able to procure an
ample Supply for the Army and therefore it appears to us to
be disadvantageous as well as unnecessary to have any Rival-
ship in the Purchase. If you know of any Cattle to be
purchased, you'd do the Public a Service to acquaint the Con-
tinental Agent of them.

Present as on yesterday
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer Pay to Robert
Reid ninty five Pounds, eight shillings due to him and the
further Sum of six Pounds for the use of John Wicks per
Accts passed by the Aud. Genl
That the said Treasurer Pay to John Randall twenty Pounds
due to Denton Jacques and I. Randall per Acct passed by the
p. Cl to the A Gl
That the said Treasurer Pay to John Pilkington three Pounds
ten shillings amt of Acct passed by the Aud Genl
That the Commissary of Stores deliver to Capt. Campbell
20 pair of Shoes and 2 1/2 yards Check to be charged to his
Compy
Commissions issued to Matthew Tilghman, John Gibson,
Henry Banning, Howes Goldsborough, Thomas Sherwood,
Richard Johns, Peregrine Tilghman, James Trippe, George
Dawson, Edward Hindman, John Thomas Junr Thos Martin
Senr Thos Ray Senr & Nichs Martin appointed Justices of the
Peace for Talbot County, also to Matthew Tilghman, John
Gibson Henry Banning, Howes Goldsborough and Peregrine
Tilghman appointed Justices of the Orphans Court for Talbot
County.
By the advice of the Council Pardon granted to Negro
James the Slave of Sarah Dashiell under sentence of Death
for Murder.

Thursday 23d July 1778.

Present as on yesterday.
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer Pay to Capt.
Beriah Maybury forty four Pounds twelve shillings and three
Pence per Acct passed by the Aud. Genl
