              the Sixth yeare of the Reign of our Soveraign Lord & Lady

              William & Mary King & Queen of England &ca Annoq Dni

              1694.

                 The Honoble Sr Thomas Laurence Baront President.

                  Coll Nicho Greenberry) Capt John Courts

                  Thomas Tench Esqr

                   Capt John Addison  Thomas Brooke Esqr

       

              Indians Three Indians from the Emperoc of Piscattoway,

              sent from Piscattoway Named John Mountague, Nepawenats Jack & Jack

              ffort &ca Morris, appeare at this Board vpon Accot of an Eng.

       

              lish Man killed by some Indians in Charles County. They are

           p.87 demanded to produce the Articles of peace concluded with

              that Nation which were accordingly produced & read Unto

              them. They are asked what authority & Power they have

              • from their Emperor to Act in this Affaire vpon which they

              appeare here, and it is Answered they were sent from their

              Emperor to knowe what is required of them & that they had

              noe power from their Emperor to Give any further Account,

              save the knowing the Demands of the Board—Resolved &

              Ordered therevpon as it is hereby Ordered that Capt John

              Addison together with the High Sherriffe of Charles County,

              Majr James Smallwood & Mr John Stone Meet at the house of

              W William Hutchinson in the said County Wednesday next,

              and from thence Repaire to the Emperor of Piscattoways ffort,

              and there Demand of the Emperor & his Great Men to sur

              render vp the Anacostin King, suspected about the aforemen.

              tioned Murther together with the Murtherers; pursueant to

              the Articles of peace concluded with them by this Governmt

              in Order to be proceeded against according to Law, and vpon

              such surrender made, to be Comitted to the Custody of the

              said Sherriffe, by him to be close kept Untill delivered by due

              course of Law.

       

                  Vpon Representation, Ordered that Capt John

              to Raise Addison take care to Raise five Men & a Captain

           p. 88 Men &ea to Range from the flails of Potomock to the ffalls of

              Petuxant or in other places where it shall be Needfull to make

              quest after all skulking Indians, and that the said Rangers be

              placed where the said Capt Addison shall direct; to be contin

              ued till the last of October.

       

              Coll Green. Ordered that Coll Nicho Greenberry, vpon any

               berry Empowered to occasion that to him shall seem Meet & convenient

              raise 12 have hereby full Power to Raise Twelve Men Vizt

              Men &Ca Six in Ann Arrundell and six in Baltemore County
