Ordr to the Ordered that the Vestrys of the Severall parishes Lib. H. D. within this Province take care to dispose of the 40 p the 40 p poll poll (where Ministers are not placed or inducted and where Churches are actually built) for ready Goods,Money or Whitehall bills of Exchange pursuant to fformer Ordr Tobo being a good p. 413 comodity this Year; and that the Church Yards be pail'd pur suant to the late Ordinance of Assembly the Sherriffs being hereby directed to give a Copy of this OrdT to the Severall Vestrys within their respective Bayliwicks. Came George Layfield Esq Collector of his Mats Customs Whitehall in Pocomok District and made Oath to two Accots of the penny p pound. Proposed and Read a Certain Return made by Capt John Oldton Commander of the party of Rangers in Baltemore County, as followes Vizt Capt Old. An Accot of the Roads that are made back of the ton's Return abt his inhabitants by the Rangers in Baltemore County Ranging &Ca North East from the Garrison to the ffirst Cabbin ffifteen miles, North East to the second Cabin ffifteen miles or thereabouts then ten miles further the same course to another Cabin on the North Side of Deer Creek; likewise from the Garrison to a Cabin between Judwins ffalls & the main ffalls of Patapsco a West Course ten miles, then with a West Course to the maine ffalls of Patapsco Ten miles more, which sd Road being marked & duly and weekly Ranged by me and my Levetent according to the Ordr of Councill from yor Exncys humble Servt to Command John Oldton
[Letter from Commissioners of Customs.] Sr By Lre of the 25th of March last from Mr Pat Mein Surveyor Genll at Jamaica We are informed that the Ship Expectation John Tench Mastr from Maryland had discharged at Carasoa sixty hhds of Tobo & tht Jackson the Owner dyed there being an inhabitant of Talbot County within the prcinct of Patuxen River and it being a generall practice & abuse of Conveying Tobo Sugars & Indico from his Mats Plantations to this Dutch ifactory which gives countenance & Encouragemt therevnto We desire you will Endeavour to prvent the same within yor Governmt And in the mean time to give Ordr that the Bond taken in Maryland for the sd Ship be effectually prosecuted for the punishmt of this abuse, We are Custom house London, Yor very humble Servants 10th June 1695.
