  Ordr to Mr. Ordered that George Plater Esq his Mats Re- Lib. H. D.

         ceiver Genll pay unto Mr Thomas Collyer riding

  to be paid toSurveyor on the Eastern Shore the Summe of

  Mr Collyer &cca Twenty pounds Sterl out of the ffines and fforfeit

 

         ures arising and becoming due within this Province

  being so much by Commission (bearing date the 22d of Au- Whitehall

  gust 1695) allowed him yearly for Executing the sd place of

  Riding Surveyor

 

  Ordr abt Ordered that the Sd George Plater Esq do like.

  Twelve -

  pounds Sterl wise pay unto Mr Danll Peirce riding Surveyor of

  tobepd to Mr Caecill County the Sume of Twelve pounds Sterl

  Peirce. allowed him yearly for Executing the sd place, as

 

  by Commission bearing date the 5th day of march last past

  does appear.

    Ordered tht the Justices of the provll Court and Lawyers

  thereto belonging be Summoned to appear at this Board to Whitehall

  morrow morning in Ordr to consult the most convenient time

  to adjourn the sd Court to.

 

                October the 9th 1696.

 

    The Councill again Sate and were present as before.

 

    The Justices and Lawyers pursuant to Summons yester- p. 407

  day doe according appear, and the appearance Dockett being

  produced and inspected, whereby was found to be abt 120

  appearances, it is therefore adjudged that there will be an

  absolute necessity for having another Court in December Whitehall

  next without wch severall persons will be fforced to goe with

  out their Debts this year; and the same was concluded on

  accordingly.

 

  Ordr to the Vpon Representation and by advice in Councill,

  Justices of the provll & Ordered that the Justices of the provinciall and of

  the severall the Severall County Courts within this province

 

  County Courts to ffin- omitt not to ffinish all business whatsoever de-

  ish all busi- pending before them, Vizt. The Justices of the

  ness &Cca provll (this Court) and the County Court Justices in

 

  Novr Court next, considering the latter have now power to

  appoint (upon Occasion) a Clerk and Clerk of the Indictmts

  by a late Ordinance of Assembly it being deemed by this

  Board that delay of Justice is in Effect as bad as denying

  thereof, and tht it is apparently the worse both for Plantiffe &

  Deft and it is hereby further Ordered that it be Certified

  from the Justices undr the severall Clerks hands that all busi

  ness has been ffinished this and the November Court, pur

  suant to this Ordr and it is Observed to the Justices that it
