  His Exncys His Exncy is pleased to Remark from the Severall Lib. H. D.

  Remark abt Coll: Cood foregoeing Depositions and does Appeal to the

  &cca whole Assembly and Countrey, whether or no ex

  cessive drinking, Blasphemous lewd talking cursing and swear

  ing has not been the sd Coods constant manner and practice.

   That the Reasons which ffirst induced his Exncy not to Ad

  minister the Oaths to the sd Mr Cood, whereby he might be

  qualifyed to sit in the House of Burgesses was by reason of

  his being a Priest, but how disingenious he proved in the thing

  is left to all mens considerations when by denying his Priest

  hood, he put the House upon the proofe thereof, and that

  when he was admitted he openly told them he was a Priest,

  and after he had kept the Countrey ffive days abt that Dispute

  at very great Costs and Expences, he at last perceiving how it

  was like to goe with him, pretended that his wife was sick and

  desired leave of the House to goe home.

 

                October the 7th 1696.

 

   The Councill again Sate and were prsent as before except Whitehall

Coll:  Jow!es.

 

  a Lrc abt the Read a Letter by his Exncydeath of the .                                                

  Governr of ffrancis Bond Esq President of his Mats honrble Coun

  Barhadoes cill of Barbadoes Dated the 27th of August last past,

 

  giving an accot of the Death of his Exncy ffrancis Russell Esq

  Governr of the sd Island, the which was Ordered to be Entered

  in the Councill Booke.

 

                October the 8th 1696.

 

   The Councill again Sate and were prsent as Yesterday with

  the Addition of Coll: Jowles.

 

  Mr Geddes Vpon Representathn and by advice in Councill

  appointed Ordered tht Mr Andrew Geddes Schole Master this

 

  all Saints year sent in by the Rt honrble & Rt Reverend the

  parish

         Lord Bishop of London be admitted by the Vestry-

  men of all Saints parish in Calvert County to Officiate there

  as Reader untill further Ordr and tht he be paid out of the Whitehall

  4011 Tobo p poll of the sd parish the Sume of Ten thousand

  pounds of Tobacco p Annum, pursuant to a late Ordinance of

  Assembly in that behalfe issued, the sd parish consisting of

  ffive hundred and odd Tythables.
