Lib. H. D. of the Lawyersin Town, a wife now living in England & that one Lieut where a prson having a wife in Engl. & married Coll. Richardson tho conscious thereof did another in the province presume to perform tht Office; Ordered the wife in Eng: still living: what the Law thereupon that Mr Attorney and Sollicitor says in the case, & Genll make due proceedings agt them for the what proofe is Required to make the same ap- same. pear; & tht they make Whitehall Return of their opinion therein to this Board. October the 2d 1696.

Severall of the sd Petitionors appearing & being admitted to speak thereto; His Exncy was pleased to tell them that they cannot complain in point of time, for that there was publick notice given at the City of St Maries, the ffirst provinciall Court after his Exncys Access to the Governmt and since by the Collectors and Navll Officrs who were Ordered to give like notice and therefore could not stop the Current of the Law, having taken an Oath before his Maty to see the Acts of Trade and Navigation duly Executed as also late Ordrs and direc tions from the Rt honrble the Lords Commissionrs in Councill and from the honrble the Lords Commrs of his Mats Customs together with a late Act of Parliamt with severall other papers Recd relating to Trade to see the same vigorously put in Exe cution; the which his Exncy directed Mr Attorney Genll (who was sent for) to shew to the Peticonrs for their perusall & Satisfaction, who accordingly tooke the same and withdrew in Ordr thereto.
