       The Councill again Sate & were prsent as yesterday.

    Ordr for a Drawn up by Ordr the following Proclamation

    Prociama

    tion abt the which was Read and approved ofi and signed by his

    exportacon and passed the broad Seal of the province,

    of Corn &cca Vizt

   

   

      By his Exncy the Capt Genll &cca          Whitehall

                       Proclamation

   

      Proclama- Whereas by advice of his Mats honrble Councill

   

       and at the speciall instance and. Request of the

    of Corn, house of Burgesses, I caused a Proclamation to issue

           under the Broad Seal of this his Mats province of

    Maryland, bearing date the 15th day of October, last past,

    strictly prohibiting the Exportacon of Corn; And fforasmuch

    as it hath pleased Almighty God of his infinite goodness to

    bless this province this year with plentiful Crops of Corn &ca

    insomuch that it is thought expedient the sd Proclamation

    should be now taken off and abolished; I do therefore (by

    Advice of his Mats honrble Councill & at the spll instance and

    Request of the House of Burgesses in Assembly now con

    ven'd) hereby Publish and declare the sd Proclamation to be

    null and void and every clause and thing therein contain'd,

    Utterly abolished & of none Effect, Commanding the Sherifis

    to make Proclamacon hereof in all places within their respec

    tive Counties; Given at the Port of Annapolis under the

    broad seal of the province this 29th day of September 1696,

    and in the Eigth year of the Reign of our Soveraign Lord

    King William the Third &cca

    death of Govr his Excellency Coll: ffrancis Russell our late Gover- p.24

    Russell &c. nour, who departed this life on the 7th Instant, by

   

    whose death the Governmt of this Island is devolved upon us

    the members of his Mats Councill.

      We have therefore thought it Convenient and Necessary to

    dispatch to you this intelligence and to lett you know that

    it is the desire of Us that the same kind and Constant cor

    respondence that hath been held between you and the former

    Governrs of this Island may be preserved and Continued for
