    Councili &cca bearing date the 10th of July last, We the Sub- Lib. H. D.

    scribers have this day inquired into the matter, and have call'd

    diverse persons before Us and upon their Oaths made exam- Whitehall

    ination do find there was in that inlet, a deckt Sloop, which

    without Entry or clearing did lade and Carry away Sixteen

    Barrells of Pork; whereupon We have appointed Mr Thomas

    Poynter DeptY Collector & DeptY Navll Officr of the Sea Board

    Side, untill his Exncys pleasure be further known, all wch was

    done this 24th day of July Anno 1696.

      Brightwell's Return abt mander of the Party of Rangers in Potomock, as

   his ranging follows, Vizt

            Pursuant to his Ordr Dated March the Third

    1695/6 Relating to Severall circumstances as in Yor Ordr

    Expressed, I do hereby humbly Represent to yor Exncy that I Whitehall

    and my Men have ffaithfully and duly complyed with yor

    Exncys Ordr in all points & cannot find in all my Range any

    thing worthy observation, this is what is humbly Offered by
