474 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1694 97.
Lib. H. D. By his Exncy the Governr &c Augt the 15th 1696.
Ordr for the Ordered that the Colonel of each County within Colonels to . . . . see the this province give Notice & Strict directions to the Militia Officers of the Severall Troops & Companies within furnish them- . . . . . seives with their respective Counties, that the militia under their Arms Command take Care to ffurnish themselveswith Arms Amunition . . this Shiping and Amunition (this ffleet) pursuant to the directions of the Act of Assembly under pain of being proceed ed agt according to the Utmost Severity of the Law, there being a Conciderable quantity of Such things now to be had and Considering the great price Tobo now Yeilds, But where it appears the sd things cannot possibly be purchased by Some persons this ffieet, that such persons then fail not to send to procure the same by the next opportunity, (undr like penalty) Tobacco being likely to Continue a Good Commodity; And to the End all persons may have due Notice, it is hereby further Ordered that the Sherriffs make publication hereof in all Churches Chappells and other publick places of meeting within their respective Counties and Signifye tht his Exncy in Person does (God willing) intend to see what posture the Militia of the Severall Counties is in, this ffall.

Ordr for Mr Whereas for want of his Mats Attorney or Sollicitor Sollicitor Genll living here in Town his Mats business is much
Genll abt their Living delayed and impeded, besides the Countrey being in Town put to vast Charge in Sending Expresses upon every Occasion of Advice; Ordered therefore that Either Mr Attorney or Sollicitor do for the future come and Actually inhabit here at the Port of Annapolis or Agree with Some other Lawyer for to do the Same to attend upon his Mats Ser vice, without which the Kings business will apparently Suffer.
By his Exncy the Governr &c: Augt 21th 1696.
Ordr for the Ordered that the Registr of his Mats high Court of Chancery within this province do (upon Sight transmit a hereof) transmit (under his hand and Seal) a Coppy
Cort of e of the Court. of Reviews Sentence given in a certain
matter before them lately depending betwixt George Lingan Admr &c of John Abington Decd Libellant
& James Crauford Defendt tht the Commissary may make such further proceedings therein as is Requisite.
