    Lib. H. D.    By his Exncy the Governr &c July the 28th 1696.

      

             Ordr     for the fforasmuch as Severall Ordrs and Ordinances of

                Sheriffs to give Notice Assembly have heretofore issued to the Vestrys of

             to the the respective parishes within this province, touching

             Vestrysabt the Collection and disposall of the 40 p poll; Vizt

             the 40 p poll that where the Same was left uncollected last year

             Should be collected this year, & that in parishes where Churches

             are built and no Minister inducted the Same should be sold for

             Bills of Excha or ready Goods; this is to Remind and Ordr all

             such Vestrys so Concern'd that they duly Comply with and

             Observe the aforesd Severall Ordrs and Ordinances in despos

             ing of the 40 p poii for ready Goods or bills as aforesd Tobo

             being likely to be a good Commodity this year; And that the

             Sherriffs of the province Serve the Vestrys of the Severall

             parishes within their respective precincts with a Copy of this

             Ordr for their due Notice.

      

      

        By his Exncy the Governr &ca July the 31th 1696.

             Ordr for the Whereas Sundry Ordrs and proclamations (tending

              to his Mats & the Countreys Service) have from time

      

             Returns of to time been issued, Since his Exncys Access to the

      

              Governmt but no Return made by the Sherriffs of the

         p. 384 tions &ca Execution of the Same; notwithstanding they Sever

      

             ally have before had instructions and directions thereabt this

             Comes now to give Notice to all the Sherriffs in Generall that

             whosoever of them shall hereafter neglect to make due Return

             to what publick Ordrs or Proclamations &cca they shall for the

             future Receive, must expect forthwith to be displaced & dis

             charged of his Office, if the Law will admit thereof, but if in

             Case it should not, that then such Officr may without faile, expect

             to be displaced at the End and Expiration of his first year;

             His Exncy being pleased to give this Notice and warning tht

             there might be no such occasion.

      

      

       By his Exncy the Governr &Cca July the 31th 1696.

             Ordr for the Ordered that the Sherriffs of the province give

             Sheriffs to give Notice to all masters of Ships Merchts and others

      

             to aIl Mastrs within their Respective precincts that Capt Hum

              phrey Pellew will (God willing) be ready to Sayle

                Sayling by or before the latter End of August next, so that

             &cca such persons as have any Letters to Send for

             England by him, may direct them to be left, either at the port

             of Annapolis or petuxant where Care will be taken of them

             and such masters of Ships as shall be loaden & ready by that
