                Ordrs issued since the last Councill, Vizt

   

        By his Exncy the Governor &cca July the 17th 1696.

    Ordr for the Vpon Complaint by severall persons made of the

           very Great abuse done to the Countrey through the

       b   Constables remissness and Negligence in taking the

           List of Taxabies; Ordered that the Sherriffs give

    Notice to the Justices of the Severall Counties in August Court

    next that they issue their strict Ordr and Charge forthwith to

    the Constable of each hundred within their respective Counties,

    thereby Commanding them to goe to every individuall house

    of the sd hundreds in which they Officiate and there Demand,

    and take an Accot from the Master Mistress or Dame of every p. 383

    such house in writing, under such Mastr and Mistress or Dames

    own hand what number of Tithables they have, which Sd Lists

    so taken they are to close seal up (after Copy thereof made for

    the County Courts) & transmit the same unto his Exncy at the

    port of Annapolis by the 16th day of September next (if the

    Assembly then Sits) otherwise by the ffirst day of the next

    prov” Court under pain of being prosecuted, to the Utmost

    Severity of the Law for Contempt.

   

        By his Exncy the Govern' &cca July the 17th 1696.

    Ordr tht the Ordered that the Sherriffs doe this ifall take due

    Collect the Care for to Collect (pursuant to Act of Assembly)

    Severall the Severall Sumes of Tobacco due from the publick

     Officers &Ca to be Accounted from the Time of the

     Fublick  Originall Act commenceing (the sd Act being now

           amended) and tht they fail not herein under penalty

    of having their Sherrifis Bonds put in Suit for Neglect thereof

   

        By his Exncy the Governr &ca July the 20th 1696.

    Ordr tht Capt Hill  Ordered that Capt Richard Hill do (upon Sight

    Surcease hereof) Surcease from Acting in the Station and place

    from being of Navall Officer within the Port of Annapolis; as

    Navll Officer .                   . .   .

    & Justice of likewise from Acting under the quallifycation of a

    the Provll Cort Justice of Peace in the provinciall Court of this prov

   

           ince and tht he be left out of the New Commission

    to be issued.

                Served with a Coppy of this Order the 27th of
