I have known Coll: Herman a Long time, and he that trades for him on Susquehanna (Amos Nicholls) is better known then trusted. I inclose to Yor Exncy what I found amongst Cast away Papers, Basalion was in Equall partnership with Petit and Sa!vay tho it went in only their two Names, Basalion Coming in after the others had pro vided for the Voyage, and after the Voyage was over thrown I divided the Left Cargo and Basalion had 1/3 But as to LeTort lie is a Protestant, was sent over in the year 1686. with a Con siderable Cargo and Sevrall ifrench protestants, (of whom he had the charge) by Doctr Cox, Sr matbias Vincent, and a Third Gentl. I cannot Call to mind at this time to Settle Thirty Thou sand acres of Land up the Skoolkill that they had bought of Mr Penn, and that's the place he lives at, other houses were built and ffamilies settled there that he brought with him but being so ffarr up in the Country they Deserted them. This Le Tort was going for England in the Ship with Governr Hamil ton, but was taken, Le Tort was Carryed to Tholoun and nar rowly Escaped the Gallys but after a Long and hard Usage gott into England, where he Came acquainted with the West Jersey Company, and they understanding that his House Stood upon the Skoolkill in a Convenient place to Trade with the Indians Contracted with him to trade for them there, and writt to their Agent to Supply him with Goods, It is not many days since that he went up to Burlington to make Up his Accots with the Agent, intending as soon as he Conveniently Can for
