Ma” late Governr in Chief of this province; the Record being made vp answerable thereto; for your petr did not in the least question that any Error could have been committed by him in following that Rule, untill the Assembly had considered an Al teration therein, which they have not yet done, notwithstanding your petr did lay before the House (at their own instance) a List of ffees, by the Rule & practice aforesd taken; Your Petr therefore does submissively hope for & beg that a favourable construction may be put vpon all these Matters & his Request Answer'd in confirming, what in matters of Appeal &ca has before been past, and in suspending the aforementioned Ordr for the present Regulating of the ffees of both Courts, as is afore promised, & your Pet' as in duty bound, Shall Ever pray &Ca
By his Exncy the Govern' & Councill &Ca May the 18th 1696.
Ordered (at the Request of the Petr) that the ffees due to him as Clerk of the Speciall Commission of Review, as also the ffees due to him vpon Appeals & Writs of Error brought be fore this Board, be left in suspense & nothing taken by the petr vntill such time as the Genll Assembly of this province do declare by a Law what ffees shall be taken for the same, and that a former Ordr of this Board therein, be at present sus pended, according to the prayer of the petr Signed p Ordr Hen: Denton Cl Concil.
Produced by his Exncy to the Board a letter by him lately Received from the honobl Sr Thomas Lawrence Baronet Sec- p. 343 retary of this Province giving an Account of a most horrid & barbarous conspiracy intended against his Mats sacred person, Whitehall and of the happy discovery of the same; Ordered that Mr Speaker with what Members of the House of Burgesses are now in lown together with the Chief Justice of the Provinciall Court be sent for to Attend this Board, that the same may be imparted vnto them, that the true Report thereof may by them be dispersed throughout the province for fear of false Reports; who accordingly came vp & the sd Letter was Read vnto them. May the 19th 1696. The Councill again Sate & were prsent as before. Whitehall The Lord, Produced & Read a Letter by his Excellency latingto the Recd from Whitehall signed by Eight of the Right Conspiracy honoble the Lords of his Mats most honoble privy read Councill of the 10th of March past signifying his Mats
