432 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1694 97.
Lib. H. D. happy deliverance from a late horrid Conspiracy together with Whitehall a proclamation for a thanksgiving day and severall other printed papers &ca giving the concurrent Account of the said Conspiracy as also a paper of News recd from the honoble John Povey Esqr one of the Clerks of his Mats most honoble privy Councill, setting forth the manner of the sd Conspiracy; Order ed that Mr Speaker, the Burgesses and Justices of the Provin ciall Court (now in Town) be sent for to hear the same Read, and that Copyes of the said severall papers be prepared to be sent to the severall Counties of the province & published for prevention of false Reports, and that all the Clerks in Town be imployed to write the same out, there being no printing press here (at present) imployed. Ordered that a Proclamation be prepared for a day of pub. Whitehall lick thanksgiving for so rich Mercy extended to his Most sacred Maty & Kingdoms, in the preservation of his person from the treacherous & wicked Attempts & designs of his Enemies; to be kept thursday next by all persons residing within the Port of Annapolis & that day Month after within all the Counties of the Province.
P. 345 His Mats Afterwards produced & Read his Mats gracious & touching Royall Letter of the 2d of Janry last past vnto his Assistance Excell sent & directed signifying the Royall Corn- York Read mand in Relation to the present assistance to be Whitehall given to New York; Ordered that (for the generall satisfaction of the whole province) the heads of the Letter be drawn forth, to be sent & published in the severall Counties of the province, which was accordingly done.
