Lib.H. D. His Excellency was pleased to demand the severall Opinions

of the Gentlemen of the Councill whether they deem such

proof aforementioned to be sufficient; Wherevpon was pro

duced the two following Acts of Assembly, Vizt An Act for

the Enrollmt of Conveyances & securing the Estate of pur

chasers, and An Act providing what shall be good Evidence

to prove fforraign Debts, the which were Read; but it not

appearing that either the sd Acts had prescribed any way for

the proving Letters of Attorney or such like instruments, the

same providing only for proof of Debts & conveying Lands,

they are of Opinion that such proof as this day was shewed

vnder the Lord Mayors Seal for proving a certain Letter of

Attorney, is not sufficient proof in Law, nor ought to be

admitted within this province for such.

a thanks- His Excellency is pleased to declare that he in-

tended to have appointed & set aside one day (this

pended till the present Court) for a day of publick thanksgiving &

Whitehall Assembly Rejoyceing for the happy News of his Mats safe

Arrivall & prosperous success against the ifrench,

but considering the Weather now falls out to be so extream

sharp & bad, and that the Assembly will shortly follow, at

which time the said Matter may be performed in a more

solemn manner, does therefore think fit to suspend the same

             vntill then.
