Lib. H. D. having charge of any publick powder that they procure the same to be changed this ffleet; And lastly that they give Notice to all & singular the Commandrs of the severall Troops & Companies for to signify to the Soldiers in generall that they omit not the opportunity of providing themselves with Arms & Amunition (pursuant to the Act of Assembly) this p. 296 ffleet vnder the penalties in the said Act contained; Tobacco having yielded a good price last year and is likely to prove a good Comodity this year.
Eodem die. Ordr touch- Ordered that the Collector of each respective Dis trict within this province, his Depty or Depties give Seamen notice to the severall Masters & Commanders of ships or other Vessells at their first coming in & Entry making, that they take care to vse their best & vtmost endeavor for to seize & secure any person or persons they shall find or dis.. whitehall cover inticing away their Officers or Seamen and when appre hended that they deliver such person or persons vp to the next Justice of the peace, who is hereby directed & Ordered to cause all such persons so brought before him to be securely conveyed vnto his Excellency at the port of Annapolis, in Ordr to be proceeded against according to Law. And it is hereby further Ordered that like notice be given, that no Master or Commander of any ship or other Vessell coming in & Trading within this province, presume to discharge any Officer or Seaman vnder their Command, without first acquainting his Excell therewith, to the end such Officer or Seaman may reap the benefit of his Excell pass (gratis) to go about their lawfull occasions; and further that they suffer none of their Seamen to go out any where, without giving them particular passes, wherein the names of the severall Seamen going abroad with the same shall be exactly set down, which said passes are to issue vnder the Masters own hand & Seal, for fear of counterfiets.
