Came Mr Samuell Watkins Clerk of the Indictmts dictmts of St Maries & Cal of St Maries & Calvert County Courts and tooke Co: Courts the vsuall Oath for the same accordingly sworn Whitehall St Pauls A Return of the Vestrymen of St Pauls Parish in Parish Vestry of Tal Talbot County being presented at this Board, Co: Ret &ca wherein was set forth an Account of this years dis therein bursemts as follows, Vizt To 6o6 Taxables in the parish at 40 lb tobo p poll is Disbursements Vizt lb tobo To Thomas Beckles Clerk 2000 To the Workeman for covering the Church2800 To the Sherriffs Saliary at 5 p Cent 1210 60 10 Remaining18230 24240
Ordered that the remaining part, amounting to the Suine ot 18239 lbs of Tobacco be by the Sherriff of the said County paid vnto the Reverend Mr John Lillingston Minister of the sd parish, pursuant to the directions of the Act of Assembly of this province in that case and to no other person whatsoever, notwithstanding any former Ordr or directions of the sd Vestry to the contrary; provided the said Mr Lillingston perform the worke according to promise.
March the 2d 1695/6 The Councill again Sate & were prsent as before. John Tench His Exncy producing to the Board a Letter from the Commissionrs of his Mats Customs of the 10th of Ship Expec- June past to his Exncy sent & directed, setting forth dered to be that Mr Patrick Mein Surveyor Genll at Jamaica had Whitehall prosecuted by Letter of the 25th of March past informed them concerning a ship called the Expectation, John Tench Master from Maryland, that he had discharged at Carosoa Sixty hogs- heads of Tobacco, and that Jackson the Owner dyed there being an inhabitant of Talbot County within the District of Petuxant, desiring that Ordr might be given for putting the Bond (taken for the sd ship) in strict prosecution. Afterwards produced the said Bond signed by John Tench, Master of the sd ship & William Sharpe the security; Wherevpon his Excell ency was pleased to declare that he had formerly given Ordr
