   Act of Parliament to be taken instead of the Oaths of Allegi- Lib. H. D.

   ance & Supremacy as also the Oath of Commissioner for Whitehall p. 264

   keeping the Broad Seal &ca & subscribed to the Test before

   his Excell in prsence of the honoble Coll Charles Hutchins &

   James ffrisby Esqr the other Gentlemen of the Councill being

   gone out of Town, and the Court of Chancery being of neces

   sity to sit to Morrow, by reason of several persons attending

   thereon; therefore the sd Commissioners were now sworn as

   above, and a Commission for the same signed by his ExncY &

   passed the Broad Seal was delivered to them at the Board

   accordingly.

  

  

                ffebry the 29th 1695/6.

  

        The Councill again Sate & were prsent as before.

   Summons for Ordered that the Sherriff of St Maries County

    Sumons Mr Hall, the priest living at St Inegoes in

          the sd County that (all excuses set a part) he be &

   appear before his EXnCY the Governr & Councill, at the port of

   Annapolis the last day of April next to Answer &Ca and make

   known by what Authority or power he joyned together in the

   holy state of Matrimony Mr William Bladen & Mrs Ann Van

   sweringhen of St Maries County aforesaid.

  

  

   Mr Kobt The honoble Robert Smith Esqr Chief Justice of

   Smith Rep.   .

   resentation the Provinciall Court came before his Excellency in

   touching Councill & Certifyed that Sr Thomas Laurence Bar

   Talbot

   County onet Secretary left in his custody (before he went out

   Justices of the Country) a Commission constituting Mr

  

   Thomas Laurence his Son, Clerk of Ta!bot County Court, and Whitehall

   that he tendered the same to the Justices in Court sitting, who

   made answer they had appointed one before & therefore

   would take no notice of any other Commission; And further

   acquaints his Excellency that the said Justices had in Court p. 268

   also lately denyed the admission of a Writ of Error & super.

   sedeas there brought before them;

  

  

   Justices of Ordered therevpon as it is hereby Ordered that

   County Or- Mr Attorney & Sollicitor Genll make due prosecution

   dered to be against the said Justices for such their contempt

  

    a new shew'd to the Kings Authority & for presuming to

   Commission make a Clerk without any power for so doing; And

   to issue &ca further that the said Esqr Smith present a List of

  

   some other persons capable of being Commissioners for the

   said County in the room & stead of the others who sate in

   Court upon those matters.
