for prosecuting the said Bond, and now seeing the breach of Lib. H. D. the same by the Letter aforesd does more effectually appear; Ordered therevpon that a strict & speedy prosecution be (by Mr Attorney & Solicitor Genll) made of the aforegoing Bond, and that the sd Bond & Letter be delivered to them accord ingly.
Ordr touch. Vpon advice by severall Letters from Somerset Capt Meech's County recd which by his Exncy were here produced Sloop & & read concerning Capt Thomas Meech Commander Goods &ca of the Sloop Speedwell, being a person imployed in his Mats Service to keepe cruising &ca how that the said Meech had been missing from his said Sloop for these severall Whitehall Weekes past, therefore supposed to be drounded, which gave occasion to severall persons to go on Board, where they found p. 272 one Man dead and another man almost dead, with severall Goods in her, whereof a List was here also produced; Where vpon Levin Denwood of the aforesd County came & appeared at the Board, who being asked thereabout does say that he is one of the persons who helpt to secure her, and that she now !yes in a Creeke just before his dore, and that he takes care to keepe a person constantly on Board every Night to looke after what is in her. His Excell demands to know of the Board what is to be Whitehall done therein, saying that the said Meech was indebted to his Majesty in a considerable Suffle in Virginia by a Judgmt recovered against him there, to the Value of three or ifour hundred pounds stri as also owed for some powder lent him in this province; Ordered therevpon that the said Letters & papers be Referred to Mr Attorney & Sollicitor Gen” for them to advize & make Report what proper methods are best to be taken, who (pursuant thereto) do advize tht (for security of his Mats Debt due from the said Meech) the sd Sloop & Goods may be Valued & Sold & the Account thereof returned into the Commissary Genlls Office, there to be Registred vntill Administration shall be Granted to some person or persons in trust for the vse of his Majesty; Ordered therevpon as it is hereby Ordered, that the honoble Coll David Brown George Layfie!d Esqr & Majr Robert King do (vpon sight hereof) go & inspect, View & Value the aforementioned S!oop and Goods (except two Brass & two iron guns, a Blunderbuss & an Ancient, laid Claim to by Thomas Tench Esqr as Goods lent to the sd Meech) and after Appraisemt thereof made that they make Sale of the same to the best advantage for his Mats vse, And that they return a Copy of their proceedings into the Commissary Genlls Office with all speed; it being considered that a present Sale of the said S!oop & Goods vpon the place
