because the Priviledges of that Nation, Granted to them by Lib. H. D. this Act, are such, That, tht Kingdom must be the Magazine p. ‘4 for all those Commodities, and the English Plantations, and the Traffick thereof lost to Us, and the Exportation of our own Manufactours Yearly Decreased. Besides these, and many other Obstructions that this Act will unavoidably bring to the Generall Trade of this Nation, Another clause in the sd Act, Whereby your Maty Promises to Interpose your Authority to have Restitution, Reparation and Satisfaction made for any Damage that may be Done to any of the Ships, Goods, Mer chandize, Persons or other Effects whatsoever belonging to the sd Company & that upon the publick Charge; does Seem to Engage Your Maty to Employ the Shipping and Strength at Sea of this Nation, to Support this New Company, to the Great Detriment even of this Kingdom All which great prejudices, Inconveniencies, and Mischiefs arising by the sd Act, We in all Duty and ffaithfullness lay before yor Majesty. I have been ill Served in Scotland, but I hope Some Reme dies may be ifound to prevent the Inconveniencies which may Arise from this Act. Instructions Instructions to Comandr of First you to his Mats Collectors Shall take Care that no Goods or Commodities &ca whatsoever be Imported into or Exported out of the sd Colony of Maryland or any other of his Mats Colony's or Plantations in any Ships or Vessells whatsoever but in such as doe truly and without ifraud belong only to the people of Engl. Ireland, Wales or Berwick, or are of the built of and belonging to any of the sd Plantations as the Proprietors and Right ownrs thereof and whereof the Master and three fourths of the Marriners at least are English under the Penalty of the fforfieture and loss of Ship and Goods to be Recovered and disposed of in manner as by Law is provided 2dly You Shall likewise take Care that noe Ship or Vessell Com ing from England Ireland Wales or Berwick Shall load any of the Enumerated Commodities (Vizt) Sugar, Tobo, Cotton, Wool, Indigo, Ginger, Fustick or other Dying Wood before Certifi cate be produced from the Officers of some Custom House of England, Wales, or Berwick that Bond hath been there given p. 15 with one Surety to the Value of one Thousand pounds if the Ship be of less burthen then one hundred Tonns and of the Sume of two thousand pounds if the Ship shall be of greater
